New SS25 | Discover the Long Organic Cotton Skirts Made in Brussels by Arachné

  • by Emmanuel Muraille

In a world of fast fashion and mass production, Arachné Brussels offers a different rhythm — one of slowness, attention, and craftsmanship. Each garment is created and produced under one roof, in the heart of Europe’s greenest capital. Our new Spring/Summer 2025 collection, When Art Meets Couture, invites you to rediscover fashion as a poetic act — where every skirt tells a story and every detail is an homage to nature.

At the center of this collection are three iconic pieces: long circular skirts crafted in satin-finish organic cotton, and entirely made in our Atelier Boutique in Brussels. Far from being just beautiful clothes, these skirts are a manifesto for conscious luxury — they are the result of illustrated prints, sustainable materials, and couture-level construction, all designed and handcrafted just steps away from our flagship store in the Passage du Nord.

The Philosophy Behind the Fabric

Arachné Brussels was founded by Emmanuel Muraille — a naturalist painter and couturier — who sought to create clothing that honours both art and the environment. This dual identity defines every aspect of the brand. The prints featured in our SS25 skirts were designed by textile artist Mado Berthet, whose delicate drawings of fruits and foliage were transformed into refined patterns evoking an ornamental herbarium.

Once finalised, these compositions are printed on GOTS-certified organic cotton with a subtle satin sheen, offering both softness and understated elegance. The skirts are then constructed by hand in our Brussels atelier using an invisible back zipper and a finely crafted lurex bias finishing inside the waistband — couture details that elevate each piece beyond standard fashion.

Sustainability is not just about materials — it’s about production, location, and people. Every stage of creation takes place in Brussels, in our historic atelier nestled above the boutique in the Passage du Nord. This 19th-century architectural gem, with its glass canopy and neoclassical details, is home to our sewing machines, pattern tables, and artisan team. We don’t outsource. We don’t mass-produce. We create with care, here and now.

The Design: Sculptural Volume Meets Botanical Poetry

The featured silhouette in this collection is a long, circular-cut skirt designed to create soft movement and airy volume. This cut pays homage to traditional couture techniques while remaining supremely comfortable and versatile. Each skirt is closed at the back with a discreet invisible zipper, ensuring a clean and uninterrupted line, and is completed with a lurex bias finish inside the waistband — a subtle signature detail of our atelier.

What makes these skirts truly unique is their placement print, inspired by botanical illustrations. Carefully composed, the patterns wrap delicately around the waist and sides, drawing the eye in a way that enhances natural curves while celebrating the organic shapes of plants and fruits.

The three variations each offer a distinct take on the same poetic language — from dramatic elegance to delicate radiance.

Green Long Skirt – Fruit & Foliage Motif

“Each step feels like poetry in motion.”

Evoking the lush intimacy of a shaded orchard, this skirt is both refined and grounded. The background is a deep forest green with subtle satin shine, bringing out the richness of the botanical pattern. Delicate leaves and hand-painted fruits swirl across the waistline like a living crown of flora.

Crafted in Brussels from satin-finish organic cotton, this skirt is perfect for women who embrace natural elegance — those who want their clothing to breathe, flow, and last.

Care Instructions – For the Longest Life

To preserve the beauty and integrity of your Arachné piece over time, we recommend a gentle and respectful approach. Machine wash your skirt at a maximum of 30°C using a delicate cycle, and always opt for a phosphate-free detergent to protect both the fabric and the environment. Limit spinning to 400 revolutions per minute to maintain the softness and structure of the cotton.

Avoid any use of bleach, and refrain from rubbing the fabric with water, as this may damage the print. After washing, lay the skirt flat to dry on a towel or mesh drying rack, away from direct sunlight and never in a tumble dryer. Once dry, gently iron the garment inside-out at a medium temperature setting (150–180°C, cotton mode), to restore its shape and smoothness.

With just a little care, your Arachné skirt will remain a timeless treasure — graceful, soft, and naturally elegant for years to come.
