Vertical band dresses
- by Emmanuel Muraille
It was after discovering the work of Azzedine Alaïa that our designer was inspired to create this dress.
Alaïa’s horizontal band dresses are world-renowned. Their cut was inspired by the bandages wrapping Egyptian mummies. His vertical band dresses are less famous, yet equally fascinating. This vertical construction allows for pleats or gathers positioned at the waist or hips.
For the viscose versions, the bands are made from a single piece running from the shoulders to the floor. This was also the case for the Tribute dress, although in that design the emphasis was on gathers, whereas here it is achieved through mitered seams. Every seam is topstitched to reinforce the vertical lines.
This long dress comes in two versions:
-
Matte beige viscose
-
Crinkled silver viscose
